Hi Irene, Thanks. Yes, I am not interested in sending them any traffic, but it appears to be a Fake Blog (FLOG) set up by a corporate PR executive. It has been reported to two professional organziations -- one PR, one journalism -- that promised to investigate. If it is a fake blog and is exposed, the exectuoives responsible will probably lose their jobs. They are now playing a dangerous game with their livelihoods. I hope they think it is worth it. But it is not my job to engage in that. I talked to my ediotors, and they advised me accordingly. There are professional organizations that do it independently and then release their results. I gave them all the material that was collected and my analysis of what corporation is behind it. This will be fascinating to watch -- and by the way, it will do serious damage to the image of Kate Gosselin and the brand of the company involved if it plays the way I think it will. There is no way the FLOG you are talking about is a grass roots blog. There are at least a dozen giveways in the correspondence I saw. Meanwhile, I will keep doing what I have always done. I've dealt with some serious challenges and adversaries in three decades of daily newspaper work. This is a a minor, minor thing. But I believe that you don't lie and misrepresent yourself to readers the way these FLOGS do. It is the opposite of everything I believe in as a journalist. And I thjank you for alerting me to it. All anyone who wants to know about them has to do is ask the person running the blog to ID himself or herself with information about where they work and such so that they can independently be checked out -- as I do and as all respectable journalists do. You know what the sneaky, duplicitous answer will be. PS I know the regulars here can more than handle any organized attempt like this -- especially one as obvious. Thanks. Z

What a noble effort to keep children off reality tv. These mothers teach their children to attack the looks of someone they hate.
Come on Zeeple admit it - Hating Kate is the hobby you like the most.
And while we're on the topic, how about a follow-up question: What do you think happens to Kate Gosselin next? There is a world of spin out there about all the different kinds of TV shows she is supposed to be doing, so this might be a little hard to sort out. But what's your sense of it? Before the Leader Z copies this for his next article on Kate G. - SRU would like to point out that is the schedule of Kate's last book tour. Too busy fighting over what is "halfway through DWTS"? That's important when trying to keep children off reality tv. LMAO
So because someone has a differing view against Kate Gosselin you people create a website to harass someone who has a different opinion warrants this hate site? ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I think the issue is that Z is a supposed journalist who (in addition to apparently not proofing his work) has lost all journalistic objectivity in his frequent rants against Kate Gosselin. His Baltimore Sun page has become just another Gosselin hate site (aren't there enough of those already?). I know print journalism has gone downhill, but sheesh. Z's continued presence on the web is an embarrassment to the Baltimore Sun and his little clique of faithful followers (led by the slavishly devoted Zrene) are creepy.

At least I don't think so, but since Z tends to censor even reasonable negative comments (I know since I've tried and failed to have perfectly unobjectionable comments that didn't fall into Zthink go through), who really knows?
Having a site that criticizes or makes fun of a person is one thing; the level of hatred and harassment (TRUE harassment) directed at Kate Gosselin far surpasses that. As usual, your side fails to see the difference.

Yes, very good point. And if I remember correctly, some one posted here about Barbara Walters, the executive producer of "the View," possibly being in discussion with TLC about about a show (not involving Kate). So, yes, there does appear to be relationship. A couple of other bloggers here have already noted the idea of this being a "favor" from Walters. Truly, I also think this is TLC reacting to things like yesterday's blog post about TLC and Kate NOT having a new show for her, and trying to place her on channels where TLC has some pull. But this is not a venue in which she looks good. Thanks. Z

The opposition is working this blog pretty hard on this story. I think the publisher is worried and will taek any help it can get in trying to create some spin favorable to Kate. But based on the themes of the remarks, I know where the opposition is coming from on this one.Z
